4 April, rain
It rained hard this afternoon. I didn’t run for shelter; I stood under the eaves and watched for ten minutes or so.
The rain was dense enough to cover every other noise in the city. As I watched, the vague restlessness inside me quietened with it. Feelings are like that: the harder you push them away, the harder they push back; let them stay a while and they leave on their own.
When a feeling comes, let it come — but don’t stop walking. The things that need doing can be done a little more slowly; you don’t have to wait to feel good.
Rain doesn’t stop you walking. It only reminds you to bring an umbrella.
Home, dry socks, back to work.
